Your Colorado Medical Society has partnered with Kevin Perez of Nemirow Perez P.C. so that CMS-member physicians may obtain legal advice and counsel on their employment contracts on a flat fee and discounted basis.

The flat fee for CMS members for this review is $500 for a health system contract and $700 for other contracts. The flat fee includes the review of your contract and up to a one-hour discussion with you to answer your questions and provide advice and suggestions regarding the contract's terms. CMS has also arranged for a discounted rate of $220 per hour for further involvement (such as assistance with contract negotiations, or re-writes of contract terms) after the initial, flat fee portion of the contract review is completed.

Physician-Hospital Employment Contract Handbook and Checklist

Additionally, CMS and Kevin Perez have developed the Physician Employment Contract Handbook and Checklist to serve as resources for member physicians who wish to review and evaluate the terms of their current or proposed employment contracts themselves. The goal is help familiarize members with key provisions of typical employment contracts to allow them to engage in an informed discussion with their employers or prospective employers.

About Kevin Perez

Kevin's legal career began in Denver over 22 years ago, and he has been practicing in the areas of employment and business litigation ever since. He has also served as his past firm's corporate employment counsel, and as special counsel to the board of directors for Denver Public Schools for employment matters.

He focuses his practice on providing advice and counsel regarding employment, contract and licensing issues to individual professionals and to businesses of all sizes. Additionally, he maintains a trial practice representing professionals and businesses in litigation involving employment issues, contract claims, professional liability issues, general liability claims and civil rights claims. He regularly represents professionals before licensing boards, and periodically lectures to attorneys and human resources managers on various topics concerning employment law, risk management and ethics.

After working for 18 years at a mid-sized 17th Street law firm that served physicians and the health care community, he and his partners Ron Nemirow and Miles Buckingham opened their own firm, Nemirow Perez P.C., in April 2014. At Nemirow Perez P.C., Kevin and the other attorneys at his firm continue their work counseling, representing and defending physicians, other professionals and businesses in employment law, general litigation, licensure matters, bankruptcy and other matters.
