How to log in:

Go to www.cms.org/central-line.

Enter your login credentials (username and password). Credentials for Central Line are the same as for the members-only section of CMS.org.

  • CMS.org accounts are automatically created for all members. If this is your first time signing in you can activate your account by visiting our activate page, www.cms.org/activate. The “activate” page requires ONE of the following: CMS ID number or Colorado medical license number and ALL of the following: email address, first name, last name and birthdate. The software uses all of this information to locate your record in the CMS database and send you your login credentials.
  • If you do not know your username or password, follow the “Forgot your password?” link on the login page and provide the email address that we have on file (where you receive CMS emails).
  • If you do not have an email address on file with CMS or if you have any other difficulties accessing your account, contact membership@cms.org. Please include your name, birthdate, and either CMS ID or Colorado medical license number for authentication.”

How to complete your Central Line profile:

Everyone who logs into Central Line for the first time will immediately see a banner that reads: “There are no areas of interest indicated in your profile. Please take a moment to update your profile [hyperlink to www.cms.org/central-line/profile] to identify your interest areas and preferred methods of communication.” Click the link to complete your profile.

OR

Your name is displayed on the upper right-hand side of every Central Line page with a down arrow indicating there are options to be seen.  Clicking the arrow displays “My Profile,” “My Proposals,” “My Voting History” and “Sign Out.” Click “My Profile” to complete your profile.

  1. Choose your Interest Areas. An “Interest Area” is a subject matter area that is important to you. Central Line refers policy proposals to Interest Areas and gives physicians in these designated areas the very first opportunity to review and provide input on proposed CMS policy. It’s like a committee without any in-person meetings.
  2. Add or update your photo.
  3. Select your preferred method of communication (text message or email).
  4. Save your information by selecting “save settings.”

A 21st century web-based communications platform

The Colorado Medical Society is excited to launch a new and balanced approach to governance and member participation that brings member voices directly into the CMS boardroom. Central Line, a first-in-the-nation, state medical society web-based communications platform is designed to empower members to:

  1. Give your board representative input before and after he or she votes on policy at CMS board of directors meetings, with no log-in or registration required. Your board member will personally review your input and your comments.
  2. Give input to colleagues on policy proposals they submit to CMS that are of interest to you through Central Line’s “Interest Areas” feature.
  3. Submit policy proposals to CMS 24 hours a day, seven days a week instead of once a year at an annual meeting.

Central Line ensures real-time member-to-board interaction and serves as an important check and balance on the board of directors. This enhanced member-to-board connection will make CMS a much stronger, better-connected and more responsive, member-driven organization.

It is truly a revolutionary application because it will provide you with an unparalleled voice in CMS with just a few clicks of a mouse – all from the convenience of your desktop, laptop or mobile device.

See the graphic here to learn more about the functionality of Central Line. See above for instructions on how to register for Central Line, complete your Interest Area profile and tell your preferred method of communication.

How will it work?

Central Line empowers you to give me input before and after he votes on policy at CMS board of directors meetings. Two weeks before each board meeting that a policy is scheduled for a vote, you will receive a Central Line email or text message from your board representative that includes a link (no log-in required). By clicking on the link, the policy issue and descriptive information the board will be voting on will be immediately available, along with an invitation to give your representative your perspective by clicking ‘yes,’ ‘maybe,’ or ‘no,’ and a comment box if you choose to explain your vote or if there is other information you’d like to share. Your board representative will personally review your input and your comments before voting at the CMS board of directors meeting.

Immediately after the board meeting, your board representative will contact you again through Central Line, explain how the BOD voted on the policy proposal or proposals and ask if you think the board “got it right” using the same electronic format. If a majority of CMS member respondents of all CMS members do not feel the board made the right decision, the board will reconsider the proposal at the next board meeting.

Central Line empowers you to give input to colleagues on policy proposals they submit to CMS that are important to you. This level of involvement empowers you to participate by joining Interest Areas within Central Line. Central Line refers policy proposals to Interest Areas and gives physicians in these designated areas the very first opportunity to review and provide input on proposed CMS policy. Central Line notifies you when a policy proposal in your Interest Area has been submitted, gives you 14 days to open the communication, review the proposal and provide a ‘thumbs up’ or ‘thumbs down’ vote along with any comments you would like to share. You get the option of participating in as many Interest Areas as you like and CMS gets greater perspective and understanding of an issue. It’s a win-win.

Submit policy proposals to CMS 24 hours a day, seven days a week instead of once a year at the Annual Meeting. Central Line empowers you to submit policy proposals virtually on a 24-7 hour basis. For the past 145 years the Colorado Medical Society called policy proposals resolutions and they could be submitted and considered just once a year.

Once a Policy Proposal submitted through Central Line is cleared by the CMS Office of Policy, meaning certain fiduciary responsibilities are fulfilled, the policy proposal is on its way to the related Interest Areas, and ultimately to the board of directors. The ability to submit Policy Proposals on a year-round basis empowers members like never before. Members who wish to submit a policy proposal will need to log in.
